BASIC FUNCTION
Provide an engaging experience for local moms by establishing an online destination where advice and information on both mom and non-mom related subjects can be exchanged and discussed.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Be the voice of the site and communicate directly, with internal and external parties including members.
  • Establish and enforce policies about what is acceptable on the site.
  • Moderate and address sensitive issues among site members in a timely and diplomatic manner.
  • Determine content specifications that represent the needs of the local moms’ community and update the site daily with popular content including photographs and creative headlines.
  • Recruit moms who are opinion leaders in their local communities and can become “ambassadors” for the site.
  • Work closely with discussion leaders (“ambassadors”) who will provide daily feedback on notable discussions as well as specific needs or wants of the moms’ online community.
  • Collaborate with the newsroom and leverage other media partners for cross promotional opportunities.
  • Promote the site and establish partnerships with local community organizations (schools, daycares, museums, zoos, etc.) and businesses to cultivate ongoing promotional opportunities.
  • Establish both internal and external promotion goals by identifying and participating (to include signage, on-site staff, giveaways) in local family-friendly events.
  • Manage a weekly newsletter highlighting popular forum discussions, upcoming local events and other relevant topics.
  • Monitor member participation on the website through existing web analytic tools (Omniture Site Catalyst) and creating periodic member surveys.
  • QUALIFICATIONS
    Bachelor’s Degree in journalism, English, with a minimum of 5 years experience in either or both disciplines. Background as a mom as well as experience in the broadcast, newspaper or magazine environment a plus. Overall general interest in digital media, social networking and online technologies is strongly preferred. Thorough knowledge of the local market including: advertisers, readers and general flavor. Strong knowledge of web as it relates to readership and revenue benefits as well as the ability to create and maintain a budget. Ability to manage, prioritize, react to change, work quickly, accurately and succinctly under tight deadlines is a must. Experience in database content entry, HTML, online photo production, Publicus and Quark are a plus.

    BASIC FUNCTION
    Successfully market and promote Metromix entertainment site. Success in this position will be judged by number of unique visitors attracted to the site; the ability to attract target demographic and psychographic segment; brand awareness and perception; and overall commercial success of LoHud Metromix. Have a connection to a Metro mix GM, however, the appropriate candidate must be a self-motivator and possess the ability to function and successfully promote the local Metromix site independently.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Grow local market awareness for the Metromix brand. Effort will generate brand awareness, usage and advertising while promoting metromix.com as the best local entertainment site for the 18-34 year old demographic.
  • Work closely with Metromix content producers, (local paper) marketing team, and the Metromix Consumer Marketing Manager to conceive unique consumer-facing events.
  • Work closely with Metromix Consumer Market Manager to coordinate event marketing plans, consumer promotions and ad agency related subjects. Propose local customization of creative and grassroots marketing concepts to resonate with (city name) audience, while adhering to overarching guidelines for Metromix brand. Lead Metromix guerilla marketing and relationship building in the (city name) nightlife scene, including coordinating and distributing local Metromix promotional pieces.

    QUALIFICATIONS
    College degree, a major or concentration in marketing, advertising or communications is preferred. At least five years of relevant work experience is required. Experience in marketing or promotions for media companies or consumer products companies are required; direct experience with a lifestyle brand is preferred. Experience in marketing an online brand is preferred. Experience in event production, event sponsorship, viral and grassroots marketing; and other promotion is required. Additional experience in advertising (online and traditional), public relations, direct marketing and search engine marketing is ideal. Familiarity with the inner workings of newspapers or other local print publications and their online counterparts is helpful. Familiarity with interactive marketing and analytic resources such as Nielsen/NetRatings, comSource Media Metrix, Omniture and The Media Audit. Log in and proof all work to ensure minimal adjustments. Maintain the necessary files/reports and other paperwork related to legal advertising. Work with Ad Design, Publications and Pagination to process display ads. Communicate with Billing and Affidavits as necessary. Assist obituary department with overflow as required.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Inputting Legal and Obituary notices in AdPower. Proofreading mandatory and fax back information to customers.
  • Answering phones from customers & other depts. Taking messages and providing proper information.
  • Creating, ordering, processing and proofreading display ads.
  • Process all electronic forms and paper work required, research credit, billing, etc.
  • QUALIFICATIONS
    High school diploma or equivalent required. Must type 60 wpm; must be thorough, accurate and proficient in grammar. Excellent customer service skills.     Set up and operate the Packaging Center equipment in a safe manner. This includes, but is not limited to the Titan and SLS Inserters, Stackers, Strappers, Bottomwrap and Barstrom & Accraply Labelers. Assist management with the training of the employees. Repair and maintain the above equipment, meet production deadlines and maintain quality.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Set up, operate and program all Packaging Center equipment. This includes the Titan & SLS inserters, Stackers, Strap Machines, Bottom wrap and all other packaging equipment. This also includes the Palletizer operation. Supervise floor operations and staffers on shift.
  • Produce press reports and monitor press runs on a daily basis as well as detailed shift and end of run reports.
  • Training of all Packaging employees on equipment.
  • Clean and maintain all Packaging Center equipment daily. Must be capable of making minor repairs in a timely manner and assist Production Maintenance with major repairs.
  • Must work under deadline/time constraints.
  • Must work in a safe manner at all times and alert management to any safety related issues.

Must learn AdPower, Admarc and Relationals. MS Office required.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Must handle incoming Recruitment calls by logging into an ACD phone group; this representative will provide the information and product value necessary to translate these incoming calls into new business.
  • Must develop the category of business. Requires daily sales calls for new business and developmental business. This includes making cold calls and prospecting for new business.
  • Sell special sections as directed by Sales Manager. Representative will be relied on to sell all products and be creative with sales programs that could help advertisers and TJN. This includes prospecting for CareerBuilder, Value Packages and selling Job Fairs.
  • Responsible for monthly revenue and additional goals assigned by Sales Manager.
  • Required to utilize Value Selling as instructed by The Journal News with every sales call.
  • Ability to run online presentations using sales collateral and marketing materials.
  • Demonstrate a consultative sales approach through education, training and value selling, maintain client profiles on all accounts, and provide market knowledge and analytics of competitive information.
