Election Central: Why are you running for office or seeking re-election?

Carey: I am seeking re-election in order to continue to move the district in a positive direction. In addition the I worked very hard to get our Safety and Security bond issue passed and want to see the project thru to completion.

Election Central: What in your personal, civic or professional experience recommends your election or return to office?

Carey: I know the Lakeland community very well having lived here since 1978. I have been involved as a commissioner of the Shrub Oak Athletic club. In addition due to the funding restrictions that are a way of life these days I believe my knowledge of the workings of the State Education department is invaluable. I also believe my business experience helps me deal with the complexity of the problems facing the district daily.

Election Central: What would be your top three priorities if you are elected or re-elected?

Carey: 1. Keep raising the standard of achievement for our students while also containing costs.

2. Work to implement the Safety and Security bond issue.

3. Work to get the sate to relieve us from many of the unfunded mandates that are not necessary.
